“The internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” ~ Bill Gates
Technology refers to the knowledge and utilisation of tools, techniques and systems in order to serve a bigger purpose like solving problems or making life easier and better. Its significance on humans is tremendous because technology helps them adapt to the environment. Here at Upton Court Grammar School, we ensure that our students have the necessary ICT and Computing skills to prepare them for university and the world of work. The Computing department consists of three specialist teachers and a dedicated team of technicians who look after the whole network. We have six dedicated Computer suites which ensure that students have access to the ICT facilities needed to help them learn. The Computing teachers have extensive experience in working in industry and enhance students’ education through providing work-related learning that will provide them with the opportunity to learn about the practical application of ICT and Computing within the workplace.
These days using ICT and being online are part of our daily routine and, as such, the computing faculty supports the work completed by all subjects across the school. The computing curriculum at Upton Court Grammar School enables students to make the necessary progress in all lessons. The study of computing develops students’ communication and problem-solving skills; students develop an analytical brain. In this way, the links developed between the computing department and other subjects provide students with the opportunity to apply their ICT skills across the curriculum.
