Upton Court Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people: the child or young person’s welfare is our overriding concern.
The schools within the Trust provide a caring, positive, stimulating and safe environment in which pupils can flourish academically and personally, and we ensure that pupils’ are enabled to develop socially, emotionally, physically and morally. As such, all adults, including volunteers, governors, trustees, visitors and temporary staff have an active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm.
The Trust has a Child Protection Policy in place. This policy can be found below.
Having the policy in place ensures that all members of the school community:
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.
Each school within the Trust has a safeguarding team details of which for this school can be found below.
If you have any concerns about a child or young person’s welfare, please record your concern and report this to one of the school’s safeguarding team as soon as possible on the same day. It is important that you do not conduct your own investigation.
If your concerns relate to the behaviour or actions of a member of staff, then you should report this directly to the Head of School (or to the Chair of Governors if it relates to the Head of School).
