We currently offer A Level AQA Food Technology. The course develops a wide range of skills and past pupils have gone into such careers as New Product Development, working for international companies such as Marks and Spencer and Master Foods, teaching and Produce control. One of the main topics covered is Materials and Components investigating nutrients and their use in the body. Design and market influences are also a key focus reviewing today’s changing society and the effect this has on decision making and buying habits. Alongside this pupils complete a controlled assessment of their own choice with a nutritional bias. Some of the topics studied are children’s diets and coeliac disease, Health and Safety, Additives and other similar topics. The controlled assessment product must be marketable and this is reviewed throughout the new product development process.
