Students who take Music GCSE will build on the skills they learn during key stage three. During the first year of the course they will learn music theory skills and will be encouraged to take examinations in this area. They will also hone their ensemble and solo performance skills in their choice of instrument or instruments as well as learn how to compose classical and popular music using sequencing and score writing programmes. For the remainder of the course they will learn to appraise music from a wide range of genres as well as complete practical performance and composition coursework.
