Upton Court Grammar School staff and students celebrated success on 9 July 2015 at the annual Prize Giving ceremony. High flying students’ achievements were recognised in a series of academic prizes across the curriculum for students in years 7 – 10.
Guest speaker Dr Claire Spencer presided over the ceremony and delivered a motivating speech about what drove her to achieving successes in her life. This was particularly poignant for the students, as Dr Spencer was a former student of the school. Her illustrious career followed a degree in Arabic from the University of London, in policy and advisory services across Africa and the Middle East.
The prestigious Principal’s Excellence Award was given to Alexa-Kara Deltchinov, 14, for her overall involvement in school life, including assemblies, extra-curricular leadership and drama.
Upton Court Grammar School Principal Mercedes Hernandez Estrada said “The successes of today are a direct result of the dedication of staff combined with the talent and hard work of our students whose parents are ambitious and truly supportive.”
