KS3 – Mathematics
Students in year 7 are taught Mathematics in their tutor groups and after the Baseline test, students continue to be taught in mixed abilities. Students in year 7 and 8 have five hours of Mathematics over a fortnight and they study the four areas of Mathematics: Using and Applying Mathematics, Number and Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.
Students are encouraged to be resilient and independent learners; they work independently and in groups using textbooks, projects, investigations, practical activities and make use of ICT, such as Desmos and Dr Frost Platform. Homework is set regularly and in a variety of ways: Projects, Worksheets, Revision tasks, online homework tasks. Students will be taught in mixed abilities until the end of year 8.
