KS5 Philosophy
Students at UCGS can choose to study A Level Philosophy; We follow The AQA Philosophy A Level course. It comprises of four units: Epistemology (What is knowledge and how can we know anything?) Moral Philosophy (Ethical theory, Applied ethics and Meta-ethics). The Metaphysics of God (Study of ontology, divinity, nature of God and arguments concerning God’s existence.) Finally, the Metaphysics of mind. (The nature of the mind, Dualistic theories of the mind, Materialistic theories of the mind.) It intends to enable students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key areas of Philosophy (Epistemology, Morality and Metaphysics), through the use of philosophical analysis, conceptual analysis and argument analysis. This also aims to enable students to analyse and evaluate the philosophical arguments to form reasoned and evidenced judgements.
